The Health & Safety Advisor will provide H&S support to J T Mackley to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and to facilitate the improved performance of both the operational and support functions by applying Health and Safety Management principles.
Responsibilities
- Work to and within the Mackley Integrated Management System, including company procedures, policies and instructions whilst regularly communicating progress with the QHSE manager.
- Assist the QHSE Manager in maintaining and developing the company’s Integrated Management System.
- Support to drive the company’s Health and Safety performance by ensuring continual improvement.
- Assist the QHSE Manager in monitoring any changes in legislation that may impact on the company.
- Ensure all HSE legislation and rules are followed.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all related legislation.
- Undertake site inspections and audits.
- Record non-conformances and circulate on a prescribed format to the relevant managers and assist in their closure.
- Assist in incident investigations with root cause analysis to enable continual improvement implementation.
- Assist the QHSE Manager wherever possible in introducing new technology, techniques, or procedures as necessary to continuously improve Health and Safety performance.
- Monitoring improvement actions to ensure they are implemented.
- Monitor action close out to ensure implementation and report as required.
Required qualifications, skills & experience
Skills & Knowledge
- Robust and up to date knowledge and understanding of QHSE legislation and best practice.
- Knowledge of core health safety and quality principles and regulations.
- Report writing.
- Knowledge, understanding and application of construction sites and working on or near water (inland and tidal).
Experience
- Experience of Quality Management Systems (ISO9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001), Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO45001).
- Site inspections and audits.
- Working knowledge and understanding of construction sites and working on or near water (inland and tidal).
Technology skills
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
- NEBOSH Environmental Management (desirable).
- Site Environmental awareness Training Scheme (SEATS).
- Working towards Chartership (desirable).
- Full driving license.
- CSCS card.
