Ensure that all structural and civils works are carried out in accordance with the contract scope, specifications, drawings and industry standards. Support the project delivery teams in the production of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and quality control checklists. Monitor project delivery teams’ quality control activities and conduct independent checks to ensure the required build quality is achieved. Coordinate with the NEC Supervisor regarding witnessing of tests and inspections.
Responsibilities
- Assist with development of and review Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
- Oversee the approval process for materials and products for the project.
- Ensure compliance with Regulation 31 of The Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016.
- Assist with the development of quality forms and checklists to facilitate appropriate quality checks of all construction works including concrete works, civil and pipeline construction.
- Monitor project delivery teams’ quality control activities and conduct independent checks to ensure the required build quality is achieved.
- Ensure timely witnessing and, if required, acceptance by the client of work stages on site to ensure works remain on programme and evidence of witnessing/acceptance is maintained.
- Monitor and measure completion of all tests and inspections and production of associated records in line with Inspection and Test Plans.
- Management of quality records and issuing to the client.
- Liaising with the designers, client, client’s representatives, including the Construction Engineer in all aspects of quality of the works.
- Reviewing designs as they develop from concept through to detailed design to ensure designs can be constructed to the required quality requirements.
- Working with project management and engineering staff to improve the quality of work on site.
- Suggest possible improvements on daily activities to ensure that production is maximized whilst ensuring quality is maintained at the highest level.
- Management of test results and issuing to relevant parties.
- Pro-active approach to, and management of, non-conformance issues and client raised defects.
Required qualifications, skills, experience
- Experience of producing and meeting requirements of Inspection and Test Plans.
- Knowledge of construction techniques in particular water projects (desirable).
- Excellent record keeping and data management skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical aspects with other technical and non-technical individuals.
- High level of attention to detail.
Experience
- Experience of large complex construction projects.
- Experience of structural concrete and road construction.
Technology Skills
- IT Microsoft Office skills - Outlook, Word, Excel, CDE and construction management software such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Training
- CSCS card – Manager or Academically Qualified.
- Full driving licence.
Qualifications
- Qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction (Such as a Degree/HNC - or similar).
