Job Purpose

The Commissioning Manager at Havant Thicket Reservoir will be responsible for all commissioning activities within Havant Thicket Reservoir Project, and ensure that, at site level, all process commissioning activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and environmentally acceptable manner. Where appropriate, the supervision of sub-contractors performing operations appertaining to plant completion and commissioning. Ensure compliance with company and client processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

Develop, Manage and Support the Commissioning Process at Havant Thicket Reservoir:

  • The process commissioning of water treatment plant at Farlington Water Treatment Works.
  • To perform process evaluation trials, preparing detailed reports and recommendations base
  • To undertake plant acceptance/takeover demonstrations and to record and report all relevant plant performance and quality data to meet contractual and Company requirements.
  • To liaise with Clients Representatives at site level to agree modes of operation and, where applicable, assist in the preparation of Method Statements to cover commissioning activities.
  • To liaise with Vendors and Suppliers to ensure the correct commissioning and operation of equipment and items of plant.
  • To perform analytical testing during commissioning activities.
  • The supervision and training of Client staff in the theory and operation of new asses as part of the Havant Thicket Reservoir Project.
  • To managing Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) – ensuring agreed FAT procedure and managing completion of FATs.
  • To comply with all Health and Safety responsibilities commensurate with the role, as outlined in the Health and Safety policy.
  • The successful and efficient commissioning and hand-over of plant in accordance with defined programmes.
  • The completion of commissioning and performance documentation.

Lead Commissioning of Havant Thicket Reservoir:

  • Plan and Manage out site installation commissioning, training and handover of MEICA elements of the Havant Thicket Reservoir.
  • Developing / coordinating commissioning programme with sub-contractors and project quality team and planners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet project requirements and ensure their satisfaction. Communicate issues such as time constraints, commercial considerations, technical challenges, functional needs, safety concerns, and quality standards promptly. Proactively inform stakeholders of potential problems.
  • Review all relevant documentation in the Commissioning Plan, including but not limited to the Functional Design Specification (FDS), Test Plan (if applicable), Input/Output Schedule, System Architecture, and Software Application Revision.
  • Review all relevant documentation in the 'Commissioning Pack,' including but not limited to the Functional Design Specification (FDS), Test Plan (if applicable), Input/Output Schedule, System Architecture, and Software Application Revision. Ensure you are thoroughly briefed on requirements and validate the accuracy of the provided information when possible.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with the client as required.
  • Liaising with the site construction team and the water operations teams to plan works and any required outages to facilitate works.
  • Advise on implications and environmental requirements/health and safety e.g. consents for discharge of water used for commissioning.

Required qualifications, skills & knowledge

Skills & Knowledge

  • Up to date knowledge of job-related health & safety
  • Qualifications/Skills - A formal qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related discipline (minimum HNC or equivalent preferred)
  • Understanding of the certified management systems ISO 9001 -2015, ISO 14001- 2015 & ISO 45001 - 2018

Experience

  • Working for a Contractor on large construction projects
  • Design and build projects
  • Water industry technical proficiency – supply and treatment
  • Demonstrable experience, commensurate to the level of the role, in process commissioning within
    the water industry and/or related sectors.
  • Ability to use a wide range of IT packages including Microsoft Office

Technologyskills

  • IT Microsoft Office skills -Outlook, Word, Excel, Business Collaborator
  • Experience of Common Data Environments
  • Experience of using cloud based CDE’s such as BIM 360.

Training

  • Full driving licence
  • CSCS card Manager/Academically Qual
  • Health & Safety qualifications, such as IOSH, NEBOSH (desirable)
  • CDM regulations

Qualifications

  • Educated to Degree/HND level or equivalent in an industry related discipline
