Job Title: (Senior) Cost Manager – Data Center Projects across US
Location: this is Client facing field/onsite role

Summary: The Cost Manager will lead cost management activities for data center construction projects, from pre-construction planning through project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered within budget, accurately managing cost and change, and reporting effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Budget Development and Management:
Develop and manage detailed project budgets, including cost estimates, contingency planning, and financial forecasts for data center construction projects.
- Cost Planning & Estimating:
Conduct cost planning and estimating activities, including preparing detailed cost analyses, market pricing investigations, and developing cost models for data center construction components.
- Cost Control and Variances:
Monitor and control project costs, identifying and analyzing cost variances, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and recommending corrective actions.
- Change Management:
Manage change control processes, including impact assessments, change requests, and cost implications for all data center construction activities.
- Cost Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and present regular cost reports and analyses, including performance tracking, budget status updates, and trend analyses.
- Value Engineering:
Implement and manage value engineering opportunities to achieve project cost optimization.
- Stakeholder Management:
Collaborate with project teams, clients, and suppliers to ensure effective cost management and stakeholder alignment.
- Risk Assessment:
Assess and manage project cost risks, developing mitigation plans for data center construction.
Requirements:
Experience:
5+ years of experience in cost management, ideally within the data center construction industry, with demonstrable experience in managing budgets and cost variances.
- Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of data center construction cost management practices, methodologies, and tools.
- Understanding of construction methods and materials used in data center construction.
- Proficiency in cost estimating, budgeting, and financial forecasting techniques.
- Working knowledge of construction procurement strategies, contract law and commercial management.
- Strong understanding of change management processes.
- Skills:
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and relevant cost management software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
