Mackinnon Bruce are working closely with a global leader in cancer diagnostics that provides innovative solutions to help researchers advance technology within the oncology space.
Due to continued growth and new partnerships, we are now looking for a Principal R&D Scientist with a specific focus on Companion Diagnostics. This position is an on-site position in Newcastle, UK.
About the Role:
Reporting to the R&D Manager, this role plays a key part in driving technical excellence and strategic innovation across Diagnostics projects. This is a hands-on role where you will combine deep technical expertise with leadership and mentoring, helping to shape the future direction of diagnostic product development.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Make technical recommendations that influence the company’s future R&D strategy.
- Take a leading role in the set-up and execution ofDiagnostics projects, defining a clear scientific direction.
- Provide best-practice guidanceon managing and collaborating with Pharma partners.
- Oversee the review and approval of technical project outputs, ensuring scientific integrity.
- Offer mentorship and guidance to R&D colleagues, supporting capability development across the team.
Role Requirements:
- Proven experience in Companion Diagnostics product development, ideally within an R&D or regulated environment.
- Demonstrated ability tocollaborate with and manage external stakeholders, including Pharma partners.
- Solid understanding of FDA and BSI regulatory frameworks.
- A track record of mentoring and developing technical competence in others.
Desirable Experience:
- Skilled in troubleshooting complex scientific and technical challenges.
- Strong professional network within the diagnostics or life sciences community.
- Experience in managing elements of technical project work within a multidisciplinary R&D environment.
