We are seeking an experienced Principle Mining Engineer to join clients our team and support the planning, design, and optimization of open pit mining operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of ore and waste materials while maintaining compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize short-term and long-term mine plans for open pit operations.
- Design pit layouts, haul roads, waste dumps, and other surface infrastructure.
- Conduct pit optimization studies using appropriate mine planning software.
- Monitor and report on production performance against schedules and budgets.
- Work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to coordinate mining activities.
- Provide technical support for drill and blast design, equipment selection, and material movement.
- Ensure all mining activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years’ mine engineering experience
- Proficiency in mine design and planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight, Deswik, or similar).
- Strong understanding of pit optimization principles, drill and blast design, and mine scheduling.
- Solid knowledge of open pit equipment, operations, and safety practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to changing project requirements.
