The Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate management accounting and financial reporting across a designated business area. This position will support the Finance Manager in providing high quality financial insight, ensuring the integrity of financial records, and contributing to the organisation’s statutory and management reporting objectives. Working cross functionally, the Accountant will uphold strong financial controls, support budget holders, and contribute to strategic decision making.
Main Duties:- Provide comprehensive management accounting support across assigned areas
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Deliver quarterly reporting and assist with statutory financial submissions
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
- Support budget holders through regular forecasting, analysis, and financial advice
- Assist with year-end processes, including audit preparation and production of supporting schedules
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, auditors, consultants, and external partners
- Maintain financial systems, ensuring accuracy of ledgers, records, and chart of accounts
- Support process and system improvements across the finance function
- Identify and manage financial and operational risks within the scope of the role
- CCAB qualified or finalist (registered and expecting to complete finals within six months)
- Demonstrable experience in management accounting within a busy finance function
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
- Experience working with complex financial information and large data sets
- Confident collaborating with non-finance colleagues and senior stakeholders
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to challenge and influence
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems or BI tools
- Ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and work with accuracy
- £55,000 - £65,000 p/a
