Mackie Myers have partnered with a scaling SME retail business in Bicester to appoint a Finance Business Partner into their expanding finance team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business during a period of growth and play a key role in supporting operational and commercial decision-making.
The Role
The Finance Business Partner is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, while partnering closely with Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams.
Built on a technically strong accounting foundation, this role combines core management accounting responsibilities with commercial finance and stakeholder engagement, providing meaningful financial insight to support decision-making, drive performance improvements and support the business's continued growth.
Main Duties
- Produce accurate monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and performance commentary.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes across key business functions.
- Analyse sales, margin, stock and operational KPIs, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Support business leaders with financial modelling and commercial analysis.
- Challenge and support budget holders to improve profitability and cost control.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate key P&L variances.
- Maintain and update weekly cashflow forecasts, analysing key variances and working capital performance.
- Ensure accurate inventory reporting and support stock management initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvements across finance processes, reporting and systems.
- Support statutory reporting and year-end audit requirements.
- Build strong relationships with non-finance stakeholders and promote financial understanding across the business.
- The Successful Candidate
- Qualified or studying towards ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant or Commercial Finance role.
- Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting experience.
- Experience partnering with non-finance stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
- Stock experience required
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reporting and commercial analysis.
- Experience using ERP or finance systems.
- Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with a commercial and continuous improvement mindset.
