MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting a Part Qualified / Qualified Accountant to join a well-established accountancy practice on the outskirts of Maldon. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their career within a supportive and professional environment. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries, providing a high standard of accounting, tax, and advisory services whilst building strong client relationships.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients across a variety of industries
  • Prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Prepare management accounts and financial reports
  • Complete personal and corporate tax returns
  • Support clients with bookkeeping and VAT returns
  • Act as a key point of contact for client queries and day-to-day support
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients
  • Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients where required
  • Ensure all accounting and tax deadlines are met accurately and on time
  • Provide clients with financial insight and business support
  • Assist with mentoring and supporting junior members of the team
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and add value to clients

Qualifications and experience:

  • ACA / ACCA part qualified or qualified
  • Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance
  • Competent using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • A proactive and client-focused approach
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
