MacKenzie King are delighted to be recruiting for a Part Time Financial Controller (c.18 hours) on behalf of a growing and forward-thinking business based in Ipswich, Suffolk. This is a genuinely broad Financial Controller role where you will have the opportunity to make a real impact. Working closely with the leadership team, you will combine strong financial expertise with commercial insight, helping to shape decision making and drive business performance. Alongside ensuring robust financial control, you will also play a key part in improving processes, strengthening reporting, and supporting the wider business as it continues to grow.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and board packs
  • Leading on budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
  • Overseeing billing processes, including project and ad hoc invoicing
  • Managing VAT returns and wider compliance requirements
  • Supporting the year-end process and liaising with external accountants
  • Providing commercial insight, including analysis of performance and profitability
  • Reviewing and improving internal processes to enhance efficiency
  • Overseeing day-to-day finance operations, including transactional activity
  • Supporting payroll via an external provider
  • Getting involved in wider business areas, including HR and office-related tasks

Key Skills & Attributes:

  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Previous experience in a similar, well-rounded finance role
  • Strong understanding of VAT, payroll and statutory requirements
  • Commercially minded, able to turn financial data into practical insight
  • Well organised, with a strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently while building effective relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Confident using accounting systems and Excel
