We're recruiting for a Contracts Engineer to support our Structural Refurbishment division on projects across North West and North East England.
Job purpose: The Contracts Engineer is responsible for the delivery of all contracts signed on behalf of the business. They will oversee all aspects of the contract lifecycle ensuring contractual agreements comply with legal standards, project requirements and health & safety regulations.
About the role: The role involves coordinating between various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with contract terms, negotiating contract conditions, and mitigating potential risks. They will monitor the progress of projects from beginning to end – from design & planning through to construction and handover using RAMS. The individual fulfilling this role will be pro‑active, taking ownership in learning and developing skills and new areas of responsibility to progress yourself and others within the Company. You will be an effective communicator and be able to influence at all levels across the business. You are expected to follow companies’ values, and behaviours at all times.
Reporting to the Site Agent / Project Manager, the Contracts Engineer will maintain regular communication around the key aspects of performance against the programme of work.
Key accountabilities- Health & Safety (H&S)
- Treat Health & Safety (H&S) as a non‑negotiable value on every level ensuring that all projects are delivered with H&S at the forefront.
- Keep up to date with environmental matters, and be aware of policy and developments in this area.
- Monitor all aspects of H&S on site such as safety of working equipment, PPE etc.
- Report all accidents and near misses as per the current reporting procedures.
- Assist with H&S investigation.
- Take care of the environment and comply with SEPA General Binding Rules.
- Report all environmental incidents, near misses and hazards to the appropriate person.
- Suggest potential improvements to environmental management within the company to the relevant person.
- Assisting with Investigations if required.
- Quality
- Setting processes and procedures and ensuring they are implemented.
- Adopting high‑quality standards in line with company values and expectations.
- Ensure Checklists are in place and completed as and when works are undertaken.

- Manage costs for the contracts and projects.
- Maximise contract and project value and minimise wastage/costs.
- Administer the programme and react to time deadline achievement, ensuring that work is completed to deadline.
