Role Summary
Position: Education Mentor – term‑time.
Location: Bedford.
Hours: 22.8‑38 hrs per week (Monday–Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm plus 30 minutes of admin time).
Contract: 37 weeks per term.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tuition on vital life skills (using public transport, money management, accessing local resources such as libraries and sports centres).
- Support students aged 16–25 with learning disabilities (including autism spectrum disorder, ADHD and communication difficulties) in and outside the classroom and community settings.
- Deliver education from the base in Cotton End and within the Bedford community.
- Record learning in the required systems after each session.
- Build confidence, self‑esteem and positive relationships with students.
Qualifications & Requirements
- UK manual driving licence.
- GCSE (or equivalent) grade C in English and Maths.
- Previous teaching or support experience not necessary; a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
- Own transport and willingness to travel across Bedford for school‑home and community work.
Training & Development
All new staff receive comprehensive training during probation, including e‑learning, face‑to‑face sessions and on‑the‑job mentoring. Following induction, continuing professional development is supported through MacIntyre’s Learning & Development team, Quality Specialists and HR.
Staff may progress to the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (free of charge) and pursue further qualifications as required.

Salary
Salary is term‑time based and varies with the possession of a teaching qualification.
