What You'll Be Doing
Working often one-to-one, you'll be a steady, encouraging presence in a young person's life inside their home and out in the community. Take Maple House, for example: mornings here start at each young person's own pace. Some prefer a quiet cup of tea, while others are raring to head out the door for activities or school attendance. You'll be there to support them individually helping them make choices, try new things, and celebrate the "small wins" that are actually massive milestones.
“One young person joined our home feeling incredibly anxious and bound by strict routines. With consistent, patient support from our team, they gradually built the confidence to manage everyday situations independently and form meaningful friendships.” That's the MacIntyre impact.
The Nitty-Gritty: Shift Patterns
To give our young people consistency, our teams work a mixture of Early and Late shifts, including every other weekend (with a dedicated day off during the week to keep your work-life balance in check). Our shift times generally look like this:
- Early Shifts
- 7:00am – 14:00pm
- 7:00am – 14:30pm
- 7:00am – 15:00pm
- Late Shifts
- 14:00pm – 10:00pm
- 14:30pm – 10:00pm
- 15:00pm – 10:00pm

Ready to swap a boring job for something with real purpose? If you want a career where you are supported to grow while helping incredible young people do the same, we'd love to meet you.
About You
You don't need a background in care to thrive here; we hire for attitude and train for skills! If you are naturally positive, love helping people, and genuinely care about inclusion, you are exactly who we are looking for. Because we believe in backing our team, we will fully fund and support you to gain your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare as you work.
One quick requirement: Because our beautiful Wingrave homes are located in a rural village with no public transport links, and because you will be driving our service vehicles to take the young people out and about, you must hold a manual UK Driving Licence.
Who are we?
We have four modern houses within the school campus adjacent to the heart of the village of Wingrave. Each house accommodates up to five young people in their own bedrooms, decorated and equipped to their individual tastes. The homes are registered in pairs, which means you will work over two homes supporting up to ten young people with the support of a large staff team and experienced home managers.
We're absolutely delighted to announce that following our recent Ofsted inspection, our children's homes were awarded a glowing 'Good' rating!
