About the home

Our home is in Wheathampstead, between St Albans and Luton, where we support four adults aged 18 to 60 with learning disabilities.

Life here is wonderfully ordinary. People enjoy walks, shopping trips, coffee in the village, visits to the cinema, zoo trips and ice skating. At home, there are sensory activities, time with friends and family, and sometimes simply a good story.

As Deputy Manager, you’ll help create the right environment for people to make choices, build relationships, try new things and be part of their local community.

About the role

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you’ll help lead the home and support a passionate team to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.

You’ll:

• Build strong relationships with the people we support, their families and professionals.

• Coach, mentor and develop colleagues through supervisions, appraisals and day-to-day support.

• Help create staff rotas using Planday, ensuring the home is safely staffed.

• Support quality assurance and preparation for internal and external inspections.

• Lead by example, champion MacIntyre’s values and encourage your team to think creatively about what’s possible.

You’ll be someone who believes in people first – someone who sees the person, not their disability, and understands that the little things in everyday life can make a big difference.

About you

You’ll have experience supporting people with learning disabilities and may already be working as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader or Senior Support Worker.

Most importantly, you’ll bring compassion, curiosity and a genuine belief in choice, independence and meaningful relationships. You’ll be comfortable supporting a team while also being part of everyday life alongside the people we support.

The practical bits

This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly across a 24-hour, 7-day rota, including weekends, bank holidays and participation in the local on-call rota.

Whatever stage you’re at in your leadership journey, MacIntyre will support you to grow your skills, confidence and career.

About you

You will have experience of supporting people with a learning disability and know how to inspire and motivate a team.

You will be well‑organised, with a good understanding of budgeting, and be IT‑literate.

You must be a driver with a manual driving licence as you will be driving service vehicles.
