Macildowie has been exclusively retained to find a talented Purchase Ledger Manager for a dynamic, growing business based in Syston. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you won't just be processing numbers—you will be the driving force behind the entire accounts payable function, mentoring a direct report, and playing a key role in an upcoming AP automation system integration. How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead and Mentor: Take daily ownership of the AP department, managing and supporting a Purchase Ledger Assistant to ensure team deadlines are consistently met.
  • Drive Process Efficiency: Play an active role in the ongoing integration of a new AP Automation System, streamlining workflows and upgrading financial controls.
  • Manage Cash Flow & Supplier Relations: Oversee weekly and monthly payment runs, handle multi-currency transactions, and proactively collaborate with suppliers to optimize payment terms.
  • Own the Month-End: Spearhead statement reconciliations, manage strict cut-off dates, and provide crucial accrual listings and reporting to the Management Accountant and Finance Director.
  • Collaborate Across Operations: Work closely with internal managers, directors, and the Imports Coordinator to ensure smooth stock matching and prevent freight delays.

What We Are Looking For

  • Solid AP Foundation: Strong experience handling both stock and non-stock invoices, alongside general ledger coding and VAT processing.
  • International Exposure: Practical experience dealing with foreign currency transactions.
  • Leadership Capability: Previous experience supervising or managing staff (this role oversees 1 direct report), with a willingness to step in and provide hands‑on cover when needed.
  • Tech Savvy: Strong Excel skills are essential—you should be completely comfortable utilizing Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and graphs to analyze data.
  • Superb Communication: The ability to build immediate rapport with suppliers and confidently resolve queries both internally and externally.
