Contract: 6 Months

Hybrid Working: Typically 3 days per week on site

Day Rate: Subject to experience £475 - £600 (inside IR35)

The Opportunity

Macildowie are delighted to be supporting a leading not for profit organisation with the recruitment of an Interim Head of Estates. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the strategic and operational management of estates and maintenance services.

Headline Responsibilities

  • Day to day management of the Estates Operations team
  • Lead improvements in estates delivery including standardising KPI's and statutory built-environment compliance
  • Review contractor performance against contractual requirements and SFG20
  • Lead the procurement and mobilisation of new estates contracts; managing tendering, evaluation, contract award and mobilisation processes

About You

We are looking for an experienced interim estates or facilities manager with a strong track record of managing technical operations, maintenance services and teams within a complex multi-site environment. You will ideally bring:

  • Proven experience of leading and developing technical estates, facilities or maintenance teams.
  • Strong knowledge of statutory compliance and building maintenance requirements.
  • Significant contract management experience, including contractor performance and service improvement.
  • Experience of procurement and mobilisation of estates, facilities or maintenance contracts.
  • Experience of using CAFM systems and performance information to drive service improvement.
  • Strong people-management skills, with the ability to coach teams, improve behaviours and establish clear accountability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders, operational teams and external contractors.
  • A proactive and improvement-focused approach, with the ability to establish structure, consistency and effective governance.
