About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Payroll & Accounts Administrator to join a busy Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and delivering a high-quality payroll service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time while supporting wider accounts administration activities. You will play a key role in maintaining payroll records, safeguarding sensitive employee data, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Prepare detailed payroll reports for management, finance, and audit purposes.
  • Generate statutory payroll reports for HMRC and pension providers.
  • Conduct monthly payroll audits and support year-end payroll activities, including P60 and P11D reporting.
  • Validate timesheets, overtime payments, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation, GDPR, and data protection requirements.
  • Maintain and administer payroll and workforce management systems.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to managers on payroll processes and system usage.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers.
  • Support wider accounts administration duties as required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in payroll administration.
  • A strong understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Experience using payroll and HR systems (experience with People XD or similar systems would be advantageous).
  • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Previous bookkeeping or accounts experience.
