Macildowie Recruitment & Retention – Logistics, Procurement & Supply ChainFleet and Workshop Manager – Up to £70,000 Per AnnumMonday – Friday, 9am – 6pm – AlfretonMacildowie Logistics is delighted to partner with a high growth organisation based in Alfreton to recruit a Fleet and Workshop Manager.The key objective is to lead all aspects of fleet and workshop operations. This role involves overseeing planned and preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns, and ensuring full compliance.Main Responsibilities
- Oversee vehicle maintenance, either in-house or with contractors.
- Ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and available.
- Manage maintenance schedules and vehicle repairs in coordination with the Operations team.
- Ensure all operations comply with regulations and the operator's licence.
- Lead Health & Safety efforts and conduct risk assessments.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs.
- Manage a small team of HGV Technicians.
- Conduct performance reviews and training.
- Occasionally assist with maintenance tasks.
- Work with external maintenance providers to ensure cost-effective fleet readiness.
- Procure services and supplies, negotiating for best value.
- Identify and implement improvements to operations and efficiency.
The Candidate
- International CPC qualification.
- Experience managing an HGV workshop or fleet.
- Strong mechanical background and knowledge of fleet compliance.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work under pressure.
- Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ).
- Membership of a professional body (e.g., IRTE, SOE).
- HGV driving licence – Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or willingness to complete)
- Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma).
