Macildowie are delighted to be partnering with a forward-thinking Unitary Authority in the East Midlands to recruit a Tax Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional to take ownership of a broad and highly specialist tax portfolio within a large and complex public sector organisation. The role offers the chance to work at both strategic and operational level, supporting key financial decisions, major projects and organisational compliance across a wide range of tax matters. The organisation offers a flexible hybrid working model with just one day per week required in the office, alongside a supportive and collaborative working environment.

The Role

Reporting into the senior finance leadership team, you will act as the Council’s lead technical tax specialist, providing expert advice and ensuring compliance across VAT, employment taxes, CIS and property-related taxation matters.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on VAT accounting, returns, partial exemption calculations and HMRC compliance
  • Providing specialist advice on complex transactions, capital projects and regulatory matters
