Macildowie is working in partnership with a highly established international organisation to recruit a Credit Manager, taking responsibility for its UK and Polish markets. This is not a traditional Credit Control role. We are looking for an experienced commercial credit professional with a strong background in credit underwriting, commercial lending, dealer/wholesale finance, asset finance or corporate credit. This is a senior and commercially focused position, responsible for assessing the financial strength of businesses, structuring and approving significant credit facilities, managing an ongoing credit portfolio and developing trusted relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders.

The Role

You will take ownership of a portfolio of commercial credit relationships across the UK and Poland, providing credit solutions that support customers' working capital requirements while effectively managing financial risk. Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining complex commercial credit relationships.
  • Structuring, reviewing and approving commercial credit-line requests.
  • Undertaking detailed financial and credit analysis to determine appropriate levels of exposure.
  • Reviewing financial statements, management accounts, cash flow, forecasts and working capital requirements.
  • Assessing profitability, liquidity, leverage, financial resilience and overall creditworthiness.
  • Managing and monitoring the quality of an ongoing commercial credit portfolio.
  • Completing regular credit reviews and identifying emerging risks or deterioration in financial performance.
  • Preparing and presenting credit recommendations for facilities outside delegated authority.
  • Building trusted relationships with business owners, Finance Directors and other senior stakeholders.
  • Working closely with internal commercial teams to support business growth while maintaining appropriate credit standards.
  • Supporting customers through changes in funding requirements, business growth and other significant commercial events.
  • Supporting or leading significant process and systems improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring credit decisions are made in line with agreed policies, governance and risk appetite.

About You

We are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who have experience within:

  • Commercial credit underwriting
  • Wholesale or dealer finance
  • Asset or equipment finance
  • Inventory / stocking / floorplan finance
  • Commercial or corporate lending
  • Corporate banking credit
  • Credit risk and portfolio management

You will need to demonstrate strong experience of analysing businesses and making commercial credit decisions, rather than predominantly managing collections, aged debt or Accounts Receivable. You are likely to have experience of reviewing company financials, assessing funding requirements and structuring, recommending or approving significant commercial credit facilities. Previous experience within a dealer network or equipment finance environment would be particularly valuable, although candidates from broader commercial lending and underwriting backgrounds will also be considered.

You’ll also need:

  • Strong financial analysis and commercial credit skills.
  • Experience of credit appraisal and underwriting.
  • An understanding of cash flow, working capital and financial statements.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance opportunity with risk.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • The confidence to challenge and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Previous leadership or people management experience.
  • Experience of driving change, process improvement or systems projects.
  • The ability to operate effectively within an international and multi-stakeholder environment.

What's On Offer?

Basic salary of £65,000-£80,000. Overall package of up to £100,000. Senior international responsibility covering the UK and Poland. Opportunity to join a highly established global organisation. Significant autonomy and commercial influence. An extensive handover period with the current position holder. Long-term opportunity within a sophisticated international finance environment. The position will be based in South Nottinghamshire, and applicants should live within a reasonable commuting distance.
