The Camping and Caravanning Club is the world’s oldest and largest club for all forms of camping, supporting around 730,000 members with experiences across the UK. Macildowie are delighted to be working in partnership with The Club to appoint a new Head of Finance to lead all aspects of the finance function, providing financial and strategic support to aid the organisation in achieving its key objectives.
Reporting into the Director of Finance, this key appointment will lead a skilled and committed team of 11 who oversee finance business partnering, financial control, transactional services and associate finance. You will play a key role in the production of timely and accurate financial and management information, overseeing statutory returns, budgeting and forecasting whilst playing a key role in the review, development and implementation of a new financial system.
The key duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead, develop and coach the finance team in the timely production of the financial and management accounts
- Manage the year-end financial and statutory reporting in line with relevant accounting standards
- Lead the annual budgeting process for The Club and its subsidiaries, providing a comprehensive budget pack for review
- Provide commercial analysis and decision-support to the wider developments business including site developments and acquisitions
- Co-ordinate and present the monthly reporting pack and associated commentaries
- Provide value-add MI to support strategic and operational planning
- Manage relationships with external partners including auditors and bankers
- Provide support to the Director of Finance and wider SLT as required
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with demonstrable leadership experience in a large organisation, able to motivate and lead a team to achieve their objectives. A confident and technically strong finance professional, you will have experience of working with either a not-for-profit/membership organisation or a commercial business. Due to the asset-heavy nature of the organisation, experience in a similar field would be beneficial as would an understanding of the revenue generated from selling services to individuals.
