Macildowie are working with a leading client based in Castle Donington to recruit an experienced and commercially driven Commercial Manager into their growing team. Operating within the retail sector, this is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who enjoys combining people management with strategic account management. You'll take responsibility for supporting and developing a team of Commercial Executives while personally managing a portfolio of established, high-value customer accounts, with responsibility to grow spend and increase profit and revenue.
This isn't a role where you'll simply maintain what's already there. The business is looking for someone who will spot opportunities, challenge existing ways of working and actively contribute to commercial revenue account growth.
The Role
Working closely with the Head of Commercial and Commercial & Sales Director, you'll become a key point of contact across the commercial function. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supporting and mentoring a team of Commercial Executives
- Managing relationships with a portfolio of long-standing, high-value accounts
- Meeting customers face-to-face to strengthen relationships and identify opportunities for growth
- Regularly reviewing account performance, customer websites and commercial data to uncover opportunities
- Supporting the delivery of wider commercial objectives alongside senior leadership
- Taking ownership of new customer onboarding and ensuring a professional, seamless experience
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and overall account management
- Using your commercial judgement and initiative to improve both customer performance and team effectiveness
Experience of marketplace growth, such as Amazon/ B&Q/ Wayfair
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is commercially switched-on, confident with customers and comfortable taking ownership. Ideally, you'll bring:
- 2-3 years' relevant commercial or account management experience
- Experience within retail, furniture, wholesale or a similar product-led environment
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or supporting a team
- Strong account management and relationship-building skills
- Confidence communicating with senior stakeholders and customers face-to-face
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify and act upon commercial opportunities
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- A genuine drive to improve performance, processes and customer relationships
