This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded Credit Controller who enjoys taking ownership of customer accounts, resolving disputes and building strong relationships while ensuring outstanding debt is collected effectively.

The environment is particularly well suited to someone who has worked within equipment hire, vehicle rental, construction, logistics, engineering or another asset-based business where credit control involves more than simply chasing overdue invoices.

The Role

Reporting into the Credit Control Manager, you'll take responsibility for managing B2B customer accounts and ensuring outstanding balances are collected in line with agreed payment terms. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively chasing outstanding B2B debt by telephone and email.
  • Managing your own portfolio of customer accounts.
  • Investigating and resolving invoice and payment disputes.
  • Handling queries relating to hire agreements, damage charges, breakdowns and other contractual costs.
  • Building effective relationships with customers while maintaining a firm approach to debt collection.
  • Working closely with operational and commercial teams to resolve account queries.
  • Monitoring aged debt and prioritising accounts requiring action.
  • Agreeing and following up payment commitments.
  • Maintaining accurate customer account and collection records.
  • Escalating complex or higher-risk accounts where appropriate.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Credit Controller who is confident managing commercially driven B2B accounts. You'll ideally have:

  • Previous B2B Credit Control experience.
  • Experience within equipment or plant hire, vehicle rental, construction, logistics, engineering or a similar commercial environment.
  • Confidence handling disputes and challenging customer conversations.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain professional and commercially focused when dealing with difficult or complex accounts.
  • Good organisation and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach and the confidence to take ownership of your ledger.
  • Experience of credit control within a rental or asset-based environment would be particularly advantageous.

What's on Offer?

  • £26,000–£28,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time position.
  • Fully office-based in Long Eaton.
  • Monday to Friday working pattern.
  • Typical hours of either 8:30am–4:30pm or 9:00am–5:00pm, depending on team coverage.
  • The opportunity to join an established business in a varied, commercially focused Credit Control role.
