Machnet Medical Robotics
About the Role Machnet Medical Robotics is an innovative MedTech startup pioneering next‑generation robotic systems for image‑guided robotic interventions. We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Senior Mechatronics Technician to join our growing team in central London. In this hands‑on role, you will be instrumental in building and integrating high‑reliability cable assemblies, motors, sensors, and other electromechanical subsystems within our medical robot. You will apply your experience from high‑performance environments such as Formula 1, medical robotics, humanoid robotics, automation, or aerospace to support rapid prototyping, system integration, and testing with a focus on precision, quality, and reliability. Key Responsibilities - Build and assemble electromechanical subsystems, including motors, encoders, sensors, actuators, cable harnesses, and mechanical structures for robotic medical devices. - Fabricate and assemble complex cable harnesses and wire sets for motors, encoders, and sensors, ensuring high reliability for use in a medical robotic system. - Solder, crimp, terminate, label, route, and secure wires and connectors with precision and adherence to relevant cable assembly standards (e.g. IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 or equivalent). - Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and work instructions to accurately build and integrate assemblies. - Perform mechanical assembly of precision components, including alignment, fastening, strain relief, and cable management within compact robotic systems. - Carry out continuity and insulation resistance testing on cable assemblies and perform basic functional checks on integrated electromechanical subsystems. - Troubleshoot wiring issues, connector faults, and electromechanical integration problems during prototyping and testing. - Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to ensure design intent is met and system integration is smooth. - Maintain a clean and organized electrical/mechanical assembly area and manage inventory of wiring materials, connectors, tools, and consumables. - Follow relevant quality and regulatory procedures for medical devices (e.g. ISO 13485, IEC 60601) in relation to electrical assembly, documentation, and traceability. - Provide practical feedback on cable design, routing, and assembly processes to improve manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability. What We’re Looking For - Proven experience as a mechatronics technician or electromechanical/cable technician, ideally within medical devices, robotics, Formula 1, aerospace, or other high‑performance environments. - Strong hands‑on skills in electrical assembly, including soldering, crimping, and assembling fine‑pitch and high‑density connectors. - Solid mechanical assembly skills, with experience building and aligning precision electromechanical systems. - Strong understanding of motor and sensor wiring, shielding, strain relief, and cable management in moving and compact systems. - Ability to read and work from electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and work instructions with minimal supervision. - High attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship, and a commitment to consistent, high‑quality work. - Effective communicator and team player in a multidisciplinary R
