Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for UX/UI Design of our robotic platform, including supporting the definition of processes and ways of working, strategy, and planning.
- Championing a userâcenteredâdesign process in a multidisciplinary R&D team, using an understanding of our endâusers and user needs to ensure we design the right product.
- Actively supporting and steering user research activities/usability evaluations to inform the design of our products, including identifying research needs and questions, and supporting the delivery of research in terms of study plans, moderation, and reporting.
- Confidently communicating best practice, design concepts, and design rationale to the R&D team and wider business stakeholders for alignment on short and longerâterm design.
- Curation and management of product design systems, aligned with relevant design guidance and usability considerations, and backed by strong design rationale.
- Distilling complex user interactions to deliver highâfidelity wireframes, visual designs, workflows and detailed written specifications to developers as part of an agile process.
- Proactively estimating design task effort then owning design efforts from 'concept' to 'ready for development', ensuring delivery in a timely manner accounting for potential roadblocks.
Who Weâre Looking For
- At least 7+ years' experience working as a software designer in previous roles, with strong, demonstrable experience in both user experience and visual design for complex systems.
- A degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, HumanâComputer Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Human Factors or a related discipline.
- A selfâstarting attitude, and proven ability to take ownership of designs and seek inputs from different teams to deliver to project/product milestones.
- Ability to drive design, productivity, change, and outcomes with little supervision and effective collaboration.
- A comprehensive portfolio showing experience of leading the design of complex digital products, across the product lifecycle, and ability to effectively communicate the value of the UX/UI work.
- Highly proficient using Figma, and Adobe Creative suite (preferred).
- Eligibility to work onâsite at our central London office.
- Proven Track Record for Ownership, Leadership, and Effective Execution of UX/UI design and strategy for complex systems.
- Inâdepth understanding of UserâCentred Design principles and techniques, and practical experience of applying these to benefit design, usability, and broader business needs.
- Developing and maintaining a design system based on sound design rationale, implementing design change efficiently across the platform, and tracking design change control.
- Systemsâthinking, visualising design (short and longerâterm) across the platform as well as for each subâsystem, with critical thinking around how design can elicit correct and incorrect use across hardware and software user interactions.
- Collaboration with a user research/usability team, including planning and contributing to research, and analysing and owning insights for design decisions.
- Design reviews/workshops with multiâdisciplinary teams with actionable outputs and agreed direction for product design and wider strategic efforts/road mapping.
- Handover of designs to software developers, including design reviews, detailing design specifications, reviewing implementation, and testing.
- Process definition and improvement, including agile methodologies.
Experience We Value

- Experience working with design controls, risk management, human factors, and verification and validation activities for medical device development.
- Experience in graphic design, to support the design of accompanying documentation such as instructions for use, marketing materials, and labelling.
- Comfort operating in a fastâpaced startup environment where priorities evolve, and ownership is broad.
