MacGregor Industrial Supplies is looking for a Plant & Hire Equipment Technician to join our team in Elgin. This hands-on role would suit someone with experience as a plant technician, mechanical technician, agricultural mechanic or small engine mechanic, working with plant, groundcare or hire equipment. You will play an important role in ensuring our hire fleet and machinery is serviced, maintained and ready for customers when they need it, helping to keep equipment safe, reliable and performing at its best.

Experience with plant, groundcare, agricultural, automotive or small engine equipment is welcome.
The Role
- Servicing, maintaining and preparing plant and hire equipment
- Carrying out inspections, testing and repairs on returned hire equipment
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out mechanical repairs
- Completing pre-hire and post-hire inspections to ensure equipment meets safety standards
- Working with the Parts Department to ensure components are available for repairs
- Maintaining tools, plant and workshop equipment in a clean and safe condition
- Setting up and operating equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Completing accurate job records including service sheets, job tickets and timesheets
- Ensuring equipment is cleaned, checked and prepared before returning to the hire fleet
- Supporting the branch team to ensure equipment availability for customers
What We’re Looking For
- Mechanical or technical experience as a plant technician, mechanical technician, agricultural mechanic, small engine mechanic or similar role
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and pride in high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
