We’re looking for a hands-on, skilled Plant & Hire Equipment Technician to join our Inverness team, playing a key role in keeping our hire fleet safe, maintained, and ready when our customers need it most.
The Role
You’ll be at the heart of our operation — making sure equipment is serviced, repaired, and ready to go.
What you’ll be doing:
- Servicing, maintaining and preparing plant and hire equipment
- Inspecting, testing and repairing returned hire equipment
- Diagnosing faults and carrying out mechanical repairs
- Completing pre-hire and post-hire inspections to ensure safety standards are met
- Working closely with the Parts team to source required components
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
- Setting up and operating equipment in line with manufacturer guidelines
- Accurately completing job records, service sheets and timesheets
- Ensuring equipment is cleaned, checked and ready for the next hire
- Supporting the wider team to maximise equipment availability
- Participating in a 1 in 4 weekend on-call rota to support customer needs
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone practical, reliable and proud of the work they do.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience as a plant technician, mechanical technician, agricultural mechanic, small engine mechanic or similar
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- A high level of attention to detail and quality
- A hands-on, can-do approach
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Experience with plant, groundcare, agricultural, automotive or small engine equipment is all relevant — if you’ve worked with machinery, we want to hear from you.
