Have you delivered profitable growth across major UK grocery customers?

Can you set clear priorities across multiple accounts while bringing pace and rigour to execution?

Do you enjoy developing talent and challenging established ways of working?

MacGregor Black is partnering with a food and snacking manufacturer on the appointment of a Senior National Account / BDM to lead its relationships with Morrisons, Asda, Aldi and Lidl.

You will lead relationships across Morrisons, Asda, Aldi and Lidl, protecting and developing existing business while finding new opportunities across the portfolio. The role combines

strategic account leadership with proactive business development, across major retailers and discounters, two very different sets of customer dynamics. The commercial team is in a

period of transformation, and you will have a real opportunity to shape its direction, raise capability and set new standards for how the business wins and grows with its customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver clear account strategies for Morrisons, Asda, Aldi and Lidl, reflecting each customerโ€™s commercial model, priorities and ways of working.
  • Own the combined portfolio P&L, covering sales, margin, pricing, forecasting and customer investment, and deliver against budget and growth targets.
  • Strengthen existing relationships at buyer, category and senior level, and position the business as a trusted, long-term supplier partner.
  • Identify new categories, products, tenders and customer opportunities, including discounter specials, seasonal ranges and core range expansion.
  • Lead customer negotiations, range proposals, tender submissions, annual reviews and commercial planning.
  • Build and manage a structured new business pipeline, and convert suitable opportunities from first discussion to successful launch.
  • Use customer, category, market and financial data to prioritise activity, improve profitability and support commercial decisions.
  • Assess every opportunity against manufacturing capability, capacity, operational complexity and margin, so that growth is profitable and deliverable.
  • Coordinate NPD, technical, planning, operations and finance teams so that customer proposals are commercially sound and launches run smoothly.
  • Manage cost price increases and commercial negotiations in a volatile input cost environment.
  • Contribute to the wider commercial strategy and help shape new processes, tools and ways of working as the team develops.
  • Line manage, coach and develop the National Account Executive supporting the portfolio, building their capability and taking them towards greater ownership.

What Weโ€™re Looking For:

  • Senior national account experience with major UK grocery retailers and/or discounters, ideally within a food or drink manufacturer.
  • Experience of working with Aldi and Lidl, including tender processes and discounter commercial models, would be a strong advantage.
  • A proven track record of both growing established accounts and winning significant incremental business.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with experience leading complex commercial discussions, including cost price increases and range reviews.
  • Advanced analytical and financial skills, including P&L ownership, costings and margin management.
  • Experience turning customer opportunities into successful product launches within a manufacturing environment.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial approach to creating opportunities, and the confidence to challenge established ways of working.
  • Experience of contributing to, or leading, commercial change or team transformation.
  • People leadership or coaching experience, with a real commitment to developing others.
