MacGregor Black are partnering with a leading international logistics organisation on the search for a Senior HR Business Partner. This is a permanent, regionally focused role covering the East Midlands, with regular travel across operational and customer locations.
Reporting to the Head of HR, this is a senior strategic and commercially focused position with responsibility for leading an HR Business Partnering team and shaping the people agenda across a significant Contract Logistics business area.
Operating as a trusted partner to Business Unit Directors and their senior leadership teams, you will ensure the people strategy supports operational delivery, organisational capability and profitable growth. The role also has a major external and commercial dimension, supporting customer relationships, contract renewals, organic growth and new-business tenders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of HR Business Partners, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service across the business.
- Partner Business Unit Directors and senior leadership teams to shape and deliver strategic people plans.
- Provide leadership and strategic direction across talent, engagement, organisational design, performance, reward and complex employee relations.
- Lead the people agenda for new-business opportunities, contract mobilisations, renewals and organic growth.
- Support the tender process from initial RFQ through to customer presentation and implementation.
- Build credible relationships with customers and identify people solutions that enhance commercial performance.
- Lead complex organisational change, TUPE, restructuring and business transformation programmes.
- Manage collective bargaining, industrial disputes and senior Trade Union relationships.
- Evaluate the commercial implications of people decisions, including settlements, severance arrangements and organisational changes.
- Use HR data and performance metrics to identify workforce risks, operational trends and opportunities.
- Strengthen succession planning, talent pipelines and senior leadership capability.
- Lead HR improvement projects and develop more efficient, commercially relevant ways of working.
- Work closely with HR Centres of Excellence, Shared Services, Business Development and Project Management teams.
- Represent the HR function at senior leadership, customer and external industry forums.
What Weโre Looking For:
- Substantial experience in a Senior HR Business Partner, Head of HR or equivalent senior partnering position.
- Proven experience leading and developing HR Business Partners or a comparable HR team.
- Strong commercial and business acumen developed within logistics, supply chain, distribution or another complex operational environment.
- Demonstrable experience supporting bids, tenders, new-business wins, contract renewals or customer-facing commercial activity.
- Extensive experience leading complex change, TUPE, restructuring and organisational design.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and industrial relations.
- Experience managing collective bargaining and complex Trade Union relationships.
- The credibility to influence Business Unit Directors, senior executives and external customers.
- Strong negotiation, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to balance commercial priorities with colleague, legal and organisational considerations.
- CIPD qualified or possessing equivalent senior-level professional experience.
- Flexibility to travel regularly across UK operational and customer sites.
