MacGregor Black are partnering with a well-established consumer goods manufacturer on the search for a Junior Product Manager. This is a permanent, hybrid role based in the North East. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their product career to take genuine ownership of a selection of newer brands, supporting the full end-to-end product lifecycle across a paint, cleaners and abrasives portfolio.
Working closely with R&D, Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain, you will help shape products that meet market needs while upholding high standards of quality, sustainability, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:- Define product requirements based on customer insights, market data, and competitor analysis.
- Collaborate with R&D to support formulation updates and new product innovation.
- Work with international supply partners to source products.
- Support lifecycle activities including product refreshes, discontinuations, and SKU rationalisation.
- Act as internal point of contact for product-related queries.
- Conduct competitor analysis and market research, monitoring trends to identify gaps and opportunities.
- Gather and synthesise customer feedback from sales teams, retailers, and end users.
- Support the development of business cases for new product opportunities.
- Collaborate with Marketing on product positioning, packaging briefs, label copy, and promotional content.
- Assist in coordinating product launches across cross-functional teams.
- Support pricing and margin analysis alongside Finance and Sales.
- Ensure accurate product setup across internal systems and customer portals.
- Work with Supply Chain and Manufacturing on forecasting and demand planning.
- Assist with quality issue investigations and regulatory compliance as legislation evolves.
- Prepare reports covering sales, margin, and product mix with recommended improvement actions.
- A graduate with a minimum of 2 years’ workplace experience in a product management, marketing, commercial, or technical role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work confidently with data tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Proactive, organised, and detail-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A customer-centric mindset and genuine curiosity about products and markets.
- Comfortable working across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in a branded or manufacturing environment is desirable, as is exposure to European or international markets.
