MacGregor Black is partnering with FareShare North East on the search for a Food Sourcing Manager. This is a permanent role based in either Newcastle or Middlesbrough.

FareShare North East is one of 17 network partners that make up the UK-wide FareShare network, a network of independent charitable food redistributors. Last year, FareShare North East saved over 1,600 tonnes of good surplus food from right across the food supply chain and redistributed it to over 266 charities and community groups. These charities provide meals as part of their services to people in need – including breakfast clubs for school children, homeless hostels, lunch clubs for older people, domestic violence refuges, and a wide variety of other good causes.

The role

You'll be the face of FareShare North East with the food industry, building and growing relationships with food businesses, unlocking new sources of surplus food, and ensuring our two hubs in Newcastle and Middlesbrough are well-stocked and running smoothly.

What you'll be doing

  • Food sourcing - Manage and grow a portfolio of food partners; identify new donors through factory visits, calls and meetings
  • Fleet & logistics - Oversee vehicle compliance, maintenance, route planning and budgets
  • Stock planning - Forecast food volumes on a rolling six-month horizon to minimise waste
  • Hands-on teamwork - Join volunteers in the warehouse, visit community groups, and get involved in fundraising

Who we're looking for?

  • Strong account management and relationship-building skills
  • Determined self-starter comfortable engaging with businesses of all sizes
  • Confident with data — forecasting, reporting and budget management
  • Logistics or fleet management experience is a plus
  • A genuine passion for reducing food waste and supporting communities
