Head of Procurement (Alcohol – Beers, Wines & Spirits)

MacGregor Black are delighted to partner with a Leading UK Retail and Wholesale business in the search for a Procurement Lead – Alcohol (BWS) . This is a permanent role based in the Greater London .

This is a pivotal role within a large and agile buying team, offering the opportunity to shape the alcohol strategy across retail and wholesale formats. You’ll be responsible for driving performance across Beers, Wines, and Spirits, managing supplier relationships, and unlocking value for customers, partners, and the business alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the procurement and category strategy for Beers, Wines & Spirits across multiple formats
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to deliver joint business plans, value, and availability
  • Oversee negotiations for commercial terms, pricing, and promotional income
  • Work cross-functionally with Category, Supply Chain, and Marketing to align range and promotional strategies
  • Analyse market and performance data to drive decision making and identify areas for growth or efficiency
  • Own the full procurement cycle for alcohol, from range development to onboarding and supplier performance
  • Ensure compliance with internal governance, commercial policies, and industry standards

What are we looking for?

  • Proven track record in a senior procurement, buying or category role within the Alcohol or FMCG sector
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage high-value supplier negotiations
  • In-depth understanding of BWS trends, pricing structures, and supplier dynamics
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Confident analysing data to influence and guide strategy
  • A natural leader with a collaborative, delivery-focused mindset

Salary & Benefits

Base salary up to £110K + Bonus and Benefits package.
