Are you a designer who can take ownership of a category and elevate it creatively and commercially? Do you know how to balance innovation with wearability, performance, and brand DNA? Can you collaborate across Design, Buying, Merchandising and Tech to deliver product that lands on time and hits standard? MacGregor Black is partnering with a category-leading sports brand on the search for a Designer, based in the South of England. This role will play a key part in shaping the future of the collection, owning design across assigned categories and contributing to the ongoing evolution of the brand’s product identity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the design process for assigned categories, from concept through to final production.
- Develop strong, commercially relevant concepts aligned to brand DNA and customer expectations.
- Work closely with the wider design team to ensure cohesion across collections.
- Partner cross-functionally with Buying, Merchandising and Garment Tech to deliver product in line with the critical path.
- Conduct market, competitor and trend research to inform design direction.
- Develop and present seasonal design concepts, range direction and product stories.
- Create detailed technical packs and specifications for development.
- Oversee execution of design details to ensure consistency, quality and brand alignment.
- Mentor and support junior designers, contributing to a strong, collaborative team culture.
- Stay current on materials, construction, and innovation within technical and performance wear.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in apparel design, ideally within technical, performance or lifestyle categories.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics and performance technologies.
- A portfolio demonstrating both creativity and technical capability.
- Experience working within fast-paced product development environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Leadership mindset with experience supporting or mentoring others.
- Experience within a specialist sports or enthusiast-led brand environment would be an advantage.
