We are currently partnering with a successful and growing business near Dundee to recruit an experienced finance professional on an initial 6-month contract. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys coming into a business, understanding how things currently work and making improvements.

The role will suit a finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership, reviewing existing reporting and processes, identifying areas that need attention and putting practical improvements in place.

The Role

Working closely with the wider finance team and operational stakeholders, you will help improve the quality, consistency and effectiveness of financial reporting across the business. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and improving existing management reporting and MI
  • Preparing and analysing monthly management accounts
  • Updating and developing financial reports and reporting packs
  • Identifying gaps and opportunities to improve existing finance processes
  • Improving the accuracy, quality and presentation of financial information
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
  • Providing analysis and insight to help the business understand performance
  • Working with stakeholders to improve the flow and quality of financial information
  • Helping to strengthen financial controls and reporting processes
  • Supporting the wider finance team with ad-hoc analysis and improvement projects
  • Taking ownership of issues and seeing them through to resolution

About You

We're looking for someone who is hands-on, practical and comfortable taking ownership. You may be a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant, Finance Manager or similar finance professional with experience of improving reporting, processes and financial information within a business.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
  • Experience of reviewing and improving finance processes and reporting
  • Strong Excel and financial systems skills
  • The ability to quickly understand a business and identify areas for improvement
  • A pragmatic, problem-solving approach
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on getting things right
  • The confidence to challenge existing processes and make improvements
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification would be advantageous, although relevant experience will be considered

Why this role?

This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference over a six-month period, rather than simply stepping into a traditional BAU finance position. The business is looking for someone who can roll their sleeves up, identify what needs improving, enhance the reporting and leave things in a stronger position.

If you're an experienced finance professional who enjoys problem-solving, improving processes and making things work better, please contact Carl Maw for further details and a confidential discussion.
