Do you have the vision, resilience, and leadership strength to build and lead a high-performing, distributed recruitment function that can adapt to change, market shifts, and growing business demands?
This is a permanent role based in the UK. We are seeking a commercially minded and strategic Director of Recruitment to design, lead, and execute our UK-wide talent acquisition strategy. This pivotal leadership role will oversee volume recruitment across multiple sites while partnering with senior HR and business leaders to align talent plans with organisational objectives.
The ideal candidate will not only bring expertise in high-volume, multi-site recruitment within blue-chip or large corporate environments but will also have prior experience in an HR Business Partner (HRBP) role — giving them the ability to link talent acquisition to wider people and business strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Shape and lead the overall recruitment strategy for volume hiring across multiple UK regions, ensuring it supports workforce planning and long-term business objectives.
- Build and manage a high-performing, distributed recruitment team capable of delivering against ambitious hiring targets at pace and scale.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior HR and business leaders, leveraging HRBP experience to integrate recruitment into broader talent and organisational strategies.
- Drive workforce planning conversations to anticipate future skill and capability needs.
- Deliver consistent recruitment processes and standards while ensuring flexibility to adapt to local market needs and differences.
- Identify, implement, and optimise recruitment technologies, platforms, and processes to drive efficiency, insight, and exceptional candidate experience.
- Lead supplier and partner management, including RPO relationships, ensuring accountability for delivery and value.
- Oversee recruitment data, analytics, and reporting to inform decision-making and continuously improve performance.
- Champion employer branding, EVP development, and proactive talent pipeline initiatives to attract best-in-market talent.
- Ensure full compliance with UK employment legislation, recruitment best practice, and internal governance.
- Substantial experience (typically 8+ years) leading high-volume, multi-site recruitment delivery within large, complex businesses (blue-chip or equivalent).
- Previous experience as an HR Business Partner (HRBP) or in a broader HR role, with strong understanding of how recruitment aligns with organisational strategy and workforce planning.
- Proven ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, balancing delivery of immediate recruitment needs with longer-term talent pipeline building.
- Strong track record in managing and developing high-performing recruitment teams.
- Deep understanding of recruitment technology (ATS, CRM, reporting tools) and how to leverage these for process improvement and data-led decision-making.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills — credible with C-suite, HR Directors, and operational leadership.
- Commercially astute with a focus on cost-effective, scalable, and high-quality hiring solutions.
- Knowledge of UK employment law and recruitment compliance requirements.
- A strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in hiring practices.
