MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading UK organisation to appoint a Head of HR / Interim Head of Business Partnering. This is a pivotal leadership role within a large-scale, operationally intensive business, responsible for shaping and delivering a high-impact, commercially aligned HR partnering model. Reporting into the HR Director, you will lead a team of HR Business Partners supporting nationwide operational divisions. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will position HR as both a strategic driver and a hands-on operational partner.
You will play a key role in embedding a high-performance culture, driving engagement across frontline teams, and ensuring consistency of HR delivery from executive level through to site operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead, develop and align the HR Business Partnering team to deliver consistent, high-quality support across multiple sites
- Partner with executive and operational leaders to design and implement people strategies that drive productivity, engagement, and sustainable growth
- Provide strategic input on organisational design, workforce planning, succession, and capability building
- Champion engagement, inclusion, and safety across a large, predominantly blue-collar workforce
- Act as a senior advisor on complex employee relations, union engagement, and collective consultation
- Lead large-scale transformation programmes, including restructures and TUPE, ensuring strong communication and employee experience
- Utilise HR data and insights to inform decision-making and measure impact
- Coach and develop HR teams to build capability, confidence, and consistency
- Drive continuous improvement across HR processes, policies, and ways of working
- Extensive experience in senior HR leadership or business partnering roles within logistics, manufacturing, distribution, or similar operational environments
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver commercially driven HR outcomes
- Strong expertise in UK employment law, employee relations, and unionised environments
- Demonstrated success leading large-scale change and transformation initiatives
- Strategic and data-led, with a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- An engaging and credible leader, capable of developing high-performing teams
- Resilient, values-driven, and committed to building inclusive, high-performing workplaces
