The role involves leading the Private Client Tax and Accounting team, managing a mixed portfolio of personal tax and trust clients across the UK and internationally. This hands-on, client-facing position offers significant responsibility and autonomy while supporting partners and supervising a small team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing the annual tax return compliance cycle using CCH tax software.
  • Advising on bespoke situations such as statutory residence test, remittance issues, Overseas Workday Relief, FIG, TRF.
  • Overseeing trust managers throughout the annual accounting and tax compliance cycle and providing technical support.
  • Providing written advice to trustees on the financial, tax and trust law position of trusts under management.
  • Preparing IHT returns for 10-year and exit charges, non-resident CGT, non-resident landlord, HMRC disclosures.
  • Registering trusts under the Trust Registration Service.
  • Preparing AEOI reporting.
  • Handling regular ad-hoc projects, including bespoke accounting for private clients.

Candidate profile:

The ideal candidate will have deep personal tax compliance experience, ideally combined with trust compliance experience (ACA/CTA/STEP). They should be able to handle a wide range of personal tax and trust technical work and work with international and mobile clients. Key attributes include strong attention to detail, technical ability, ownership, a hands-on approach, a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a supportive team environment.
