The Logistics Team Leader Role

We're looking for an organised, proactive and safety-conscious Logistics Team Leader to join our busy Regional Distribution Centre in Reading.

This is a key operational role focused on supporting the smooth and compliant running of our logistics function.

Working closely alongside the Logistics Manager, you'll take the lead on transport compliance, driver supervision, fleet administration, health & safety and the day-to-day coordination of logistics activities to ensure exceptional service is delivered to our customers.

Whilst this role does not directly manage the warehouse operation or warehouse colleagues, you'll be a visible member of the wider operational leadership team and will be expected to support warehouse activities whenever required, helping to maintain an efficient, collaborative and customer-focused operation.

What You Will Be Doing

As our Logistics Team Leader, you'll play an important role in ensuring our transport and logistics operation runs safely, efficiently and in full compliance with company and legal standards.

  • Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Supporting the day-to-day coordination of logistics operations to ensure excellent customer service and on-time deliveries.
  • Supervising and supporting our team of drivers, ensuring compliance with Driver Hours, Working Time Regulations, licence checks and associated legal requirements.
  • Conducting driver debriefs, reviewing vehicle camera alerts and taking appropriate follow-up action where required.
  • Assisting with the management of the commercial vehicle fleet, including vehicle inspections, servicing schedules and maintenance records.
  • Planning and optimising delivery routes using Paragon route planning software.
  • Working alongside the Logistics Manager to promote high standards of health, safety and operational compliance across the site.
  • Supporting investigations relating to health & safety, conduct or operational incidents where required.
  • Assisting with the induction, training and ongoing development of new colleagues.
  • Receiving supplier deliveries, completing quality checks and ensuring stock is accurately recorded and stored.
  • Supporting inventory accuracy through regular stock counts and audits.
  • Working closely with Sales and other internal departments to coordinate customer deliveries and resolve operational issues.
  • Providing operational support within the warehouse whenever required to help maintain productivity and customer service.
  • Providing cover for the Logistics Manager during periods of absence or annual leave.
  • What You Will Bring

We're looking for someone who combines operational knowledge with strong organisational skills and a genuine commitment to safety, compliance and customer service.

  • You'll Ideally Bring
  • Previous experience within a logistics, transport or warehouse environment.
  • Previous experience in a Team Leader, Supervisor or similar operational leadership role.
  • Good knowledge of transport legislation, Driver Hours regulations, Working Time Regulations and health & safety best practice.
  • Experience supporting drivers, fleet compliance or transport administration.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage positively with drivers, colleagues and customers.
  • A calm, organised approach with the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate administrative skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively across departments to deliver excellent customer service.
  • A flexible, hands-on approach and willingness to support wider operational activities whenever required.
  • A valid Forklift Truck licence (Reach, Counterbalance or Bendi) would be advantageous, although training may be provided for the right individual.
  • What You Will Get

We provide a competitive basic salary and operate a range of rewarding bonus and incentive schemes. Our flexible employee benefits package can include:
