Your Role: Internal Sales Executive

Based in our Newcastle team, you'll work hand in hand with a field-based Sales Executive as part of a two-person team, sharing responsibility for a portfolio of customer accounts. While they're out on the road meeting customers, you'll be the voice of those accounts back at base: the first point of contact for enquiries, keeping orders moving, and making proactive outbound calls to existing, lapsed and under-utilised customers to uncover new opportunities.

This is a relationship-focused role rather than a telesales position, with a strong emphasis on understanding customer needs and providing ongoing support.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Making regular outbound calls to existing, lapsed and under-utilised accounts to strengthen relationships and unlock up-selling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Working towards sales targets alongside your field-based Sales Executive
  • Coordinating responsibilities with your Sales Executive as a two-person team, providing support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
  • Dealing with day-to-day customer enquiries and providing timely, effective support in a busy office environment
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships by understanding what each customer needs
  • Processing orders accurately and managing order progression through to delivery
  • Using our CRM system (MS Dynamics) to track leads, update customer records and monitor sales activity
  • Collaborating with our purchasing and logistics teams to ensure timely order fulfilment

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • A proven track record of making outbound calls and handling customer enquiries as part of a customer-focused role
  • Experience of working to sales targets or KPIs
  • At least 12 months' experience in an internal sales, sales support, account management or customer service role
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a friendly, professional manner
  • Strong organisational skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to juggle priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and CRM systems

Desirable:

  • B2B sales experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics
  • Knowledge of the packaging or distribution sector

What You Will Get:

We provide a competitive basic salary alongside a rewarding incentive scheme designed to recognise and incentivise success. Our flexible benefits package includes:

  • 25 days annual leave (rising to 27 with service) plus all public/bank holidays
  • Additional holiday purchase scheme
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Employee assistance programme to support wellbeing
  • Extensive training and development opportunities
  • Employee discount scheme (retail and leisure)
  • Annual paid volunteering day
  • Simply Health/Dental plan options
  • Enhanced HR policies and long service awards
  • Charitable giving options
  • Financial support with eye tests and glasses (DSE users)
  • EE mobile discount scheme
