This is a key support role within our European Business Development team, helping to drive the continued growth and development of both existing customers and prospective key accounts across Europe. Working closely with the wider commercial team, you will provide a blend of administrative, commercial and project coordination support, helping to ensure seamless communication, efficient account management and excellent customer service delivery across multiple European markets. The role will involve regular customer interaction, detailed reporting and analysis, preparation of commercial documentation and coordination of key business development activities. It is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, highly varied environment where organisation, communication and commercial awareness are all equally important. While this position can be remote or hybrid within the UK, Spain or Netherlands, there will be regular travel to Macfarlane offices within both the UK and Europe and potential for occasional visits to customer locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the European Business Development team with day-to-day commercial and administrative activities
- Coordinating assigned European customer accounts to ensure service levels and contractual commitments are maintained
- Producing tailored customer reports covering spend, savings, OTIF performance, KPIs and margin analysis
- Providing proactive sales and margin analysis to help identify growth opportunities and areas for improvement
- Preparing presentations, customer profiles, RFQs, project plans and sales support documentation
- Coordinating commercial and marketing activities, including CRM management and sales lead follow-up
- Processing purchase orders, sales orders and invoices accurately and efficiently
- Organising meetings, presentations and related materials
- Communicating closely with internal departments and European distribution locations to ensure continuity of service and collaboration across the wider business
- Supporting sustainability, compliance and continuous improvement initiatives across the European operation
What you will bring
We're looking for a highly organised and adaptable individual who enjoys working within a commercially focused support role involving significant customer interaction, administration and project coordination. You will ideally bring:
- Fluency in French and English (essential) alongside either Dutch or any other European language (advantageous).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with confidence communicating at all levels internally and externally
- A proactive and resilient approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Previous experience within a similar commercial support, sales coordination, account coordination or project administration role
- A willingness to travel regularly within the UK and Europe
- Experience within packaging, manufacturing or distribution would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
