As Technical Sales Executive, you will drive profitable growth across your territory by developing new business and managing technically driven customer opportunities. This is a consultative, project-led sales role where you will work closely with engineers, procurement teams and operational stakeholders to develop tailored packaging solutions for complex applications. Sales cycles are often multi-stage and can range from several weeks to six months or more, requiring a structured, professional and solutions-focused sales approach. Your time will be primarily focused on new business development, supported by internal referrals from the wider Macfarlane Group and collaboration with our in-house design and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a structured territory sales plan to achieve sustainable revenue growth
- Identify, target and convert new business opportunities within manufacturing and technical sectors
- Use a consultative sales approach to understand customer challenges and develop tailored, commercially viable packaging solutions
- Build strong, long-term relationships with engineers, buyers and decision-makers
- Manage a healthy pipeline of opportunities with varying lead times and project values
- Prepare and deliver professional proposals, presentations and costed solutions
- Negotiate commercial terms that balance customer value with business profitability
- Work closely with internal design, estimating and production teams to ensure solutions are feasible and delivered successfully
- Maintain accurate records of sales activity, quotations and pipeline progress
- Leverage internal group referrals and cross-sell additional Macfarlane solutions where appropriate
What You Will Bring
We are looking for a motivated, professional field sales specialist who thrives in a technical, solution-led environment. You will ideally have:
- Proven experience in field-based B2B sales, with a strong emphasis on new business development
- Experience selling technical, engineered or bespoke manufactured products/solutions
- Confidence working with engineers, technical stakeholders and procurement teams
- A structured, methodical approach to managing longer and more complex sales cycles
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Excellent presentation and relationship-building abilities
- Self-motivation, resilience and a results-focused mindset
- Full UK driving licence
- Residence within the territory and reasonable travel distance of Chatteris
- Experience within packaging, industrial manufacturing, engineering solutions or related sectors would be advantageous, but we welcome applicants from other technical sales backgrounds who can demonstrate a consultative, project-based sales approach.

Package and Benefits
Package: Basic salary £40,000-£45,000 (dependent on experience) + rewarding bonus/OTE + Company Car or Allowance + benefits package
Hours: 40 per week (Monday-Friday)
