We are seeking an experienced senior environment and sustainability manager to deliver client-focused advisory and programme support. You will lead environmental workstreams, integrate robust design and risk management, and guide high-quality deliverables, while supporting our Responsible Business growth, work winning, and wider sustainability ambitions.

This role will be based in London.
Responsibilities
- Managing the development of client environmental management, climate change, sustainability and/or social value strategies on individual projects, including agreeing project outcomes and ensuring their delivery by the project team.
- Managing a team of Sustainability Managers, and/or Assistant Sustainability Managers.
- Be a technical expert and promote innovation in a particular area of sustainability, such as waste, energy/carbon, water, responsible sourcing of materials, sustainable buildings, etc.
- Supporting work winning through bid support, innovation, client liaison, upskilling of colleagues and external profile-raising of Mace/Mace services.
- Supporting the drive for Mace to be a leader in climate change and sustainability.
Requirements
- Extensive experience of environmental management in major infrastructure (e.g., reservoirs, linear infrastructure, water assets, or NSIPs).
- Demonstrable experience leading EIA topics or chapters and contributing to DCO applications.
- Strong understanding of UK environmental legislation, planning policy, and best practice approaches.
- Proven experience influencing design development to achieve environmental compliance and performance improvements.
- Ability to manage complex stakeholders, negotiate outcomes, and represent the programme at senior technical forums.
- Degree-qualified with professional accreditation (MISEP, CEnv, ISEP Practitioner or equivalent).
