Our values shape the way we consult and define the people we want to join us on our journey. The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will specialise in the Pre-Contract space on a major infrastructure programme. This critical role will support in the implementing of the commercial and contractual strategy during the procurement phase for works and services. The QS is required to possess a good understanding in the new engineering contract (NEC4) suite, framework agreements and bespoke contractual arrangements. This role supports the Commercial Manager in the development of contracts in line with the strategy, contains robust commercial terms, optimal risk and reward allocation, incorporates proactive and collaborative requirements and enables performance management to ensure success in post contract administration.

You’ll Be Responsible For:

  • Managing “Safety First” culture, ensuring excellence in safety, compliance, quality, cost, programme and sustainability outcomes.
  • Providing strategic oversight of project delivery, contracts, costing and client engagement aligned to business objectives.
  • Driving ethical, commercially sound operations, supporting net zero ambitions and upholding Mace values.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships, fostering innovation, and resolving complex procurement and contract challenges.

You’ll Need To Have:

  • Educated to degree level in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • MRICS qualified or equivalent qualification (or working towards it).
  • Evidence of ongoing management development and relevant personal development.
  • Experience in a similar role at a similar level in major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working across complex matrix teams.
  • Success at creating an aligned culture focused on high performance.
  • Adept in use of standard forms of contract and implementing commercial strategies.
  • NEC4 expertise: Extensive practical experience in drafting, negotiating, and executing contracts under the NEC4 suite (ECC and PSC including short forms).
  • Pre-Contract focus: Significant experience in the full pre-award cycle, including tender strategy, documentation, bidder engagement, evaluation, and negotiation.
