The Project Our Transportation team is growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer - Telecoms to join our ASPRO Rail team on a full‑time permanent contract. As Project Engineer - Telecoms you will represent Mace whilst interfacing with our key client Network Rail. You will ensure the successful delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives. You will be required to work across a number of Network Rail asset protection and maintenance commissions with ad‑hoc travel to sites.
You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Managing the specific discipline engineering activities through the project lifecycle, and supporting the Senior Asset Protection Engineer and Network Rail Interface Manager in the successful facilitation of outside or third‑party schemes.
- Providing attendance at relevant project meetings and workshops, including progress meetings, CRE meetings, IDC/IDRs.
- Undertaking reviews of design and construction activities, ensuring compliance to relevant standards and legislation.
- Responding via NR/L2/RSE/02009/F0044 DRN process with acceptance or rejection of submissions within 20 working days of receipt.
- Communicating clearly to the client/designer where a submission fails/rejected (Cat0/3) and ensuring areas identified are re‑reviewed when design submission is returned with DRN closed out.
- Liaising with route engineers.
- Conducting on‑site engineering verifications (where required and directed by the Senior Asset Protection Engineer).
- Assuring whether contractors’ design, construction and specialist personnel are competent (CEM/CRE appointment etc.).
You’ll Need To Have:
- Chartered engineer with relevant degree and 8+ years’ experience.
- Competent telecoms Project Engineer under NR standards.
- Strong knowledge of CDM, CSM‑RA and telecoms assurance requirements.
- Proven experience delivering works directly with Network Rail.
