We are looking to appoint a PMO/Project Controls Analyst to join our Defence team in Preston, supporting a major long‑term programme operating within air system and Defence environments. In this role, you will support effective programme governance, reporting and performance insight across the portfolio, helping the Integrated Client Team and delivery partners make timely, informed decisions. The role is due to commence in late autumn to early winter and sits within a secure and highly regulated environment.
Note: Due to the security requirements of the role, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Coordinating programme reporting cycles and consolidating schedule, cost, risk and delivery updates into clear, accurate performance packs.
- Producing dashboards and analysis such as trends, exceptions, RAG status and milestone tracking to provide insight and early warning of emerging issues.
- Maintaining programme logs including RAID, actions, decisions and change requests, and supporting governance meeting preparation, minutes and actions as required.
- Supporting data quality assurance activities, including validation checks and compliance with agreed standards and processes.
- Supporting assurance activities by maintaining evidence, trackers and audit trails for programme processes, decisions and controls.
- Supporting process improvement activities, documentation and onboarding or training materials to embed consistent ways of working across the programme.
You’ll need to have:
- A relevant qualification (HND or degree) in project management, business management, engineering, construction, finance, data or analytics, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a PMO, project controls or project support role, ideally within construction, infrastructure or regulated programme environments.
- Strong data management and analysis skills, with Excel essential, and confidence producing clear reporting packs, dashboards and written narrative.
- A working knowledge of core project controls and governance processes, including RAID management, change control, actions and decisions tracking, baseline management and reporting cycles.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word, with confidence learning programme tools such as SharePoint, Teams, Power BI and planning or cost systems where applicable.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple inputs, work to deadlines and maintain clear audit trails.
- Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills, with confidence working across multi‑partner teams.
- Flexibility and willingness to work from the Preston or Lancashire area as required.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.
