The Project
Following official planning permission being granted, works to prepare the iconic Lasdun Wall redevelopment have begun.
Phase One of the Lasdun Wall refurbishment will provide two floors of modern teaching space and four floors of laboratory space and teaching and learning facilities.
The refurbishment will help the university deliver their ambition to be a net zero campus by 2045 or earlier.
The role
Responsible for managing the delivery specific areas or work packages on Projects, to key performance indicators (KPIs) on Safety, Quality, Cost and Programme.
Works as part of Construction Delivery team, building and managing relationships with Trade/Sub Contractors, internal and external colleagues and stake holders.
Responsibilities
- Provides support to team in driving performance and results, whilst delivering performance management, technical development and coaching.
- Responsible for the Structure and/or Fit Out of a specific area or package, including site conditions, programme, quality and safe working standards.
- Liaises with and takes direction from the Project Package Managers, regarding
- Programme and Critical Path works in the area.
- Leads forecast Lookahead Meetings for the area or package, working with the Package Manager.
- Provides detailed Planned Vs Actual data for all works within their area, knowing when to elevate to Construction Leadership where deviation from the Plan is evident.
- Knowing Project Digital Strategy, and where Construction Information can be found.
- Manages close out of their area, understanding all relevant QAQC Plans and ITPs and Handover
- Develops effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Actively seeks understanding and utilise the Centre of Excellence (Co E) knowledge base and Company best practice.
- Promotes and drives the business priorities through Construction to Production, Digital & Data and responsible business practices.
- Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
- You’ll need to have
- Knowledge of all construction methodology and processes, with particular focus on relevant Structural/Facade/Fit Out disciplines.
- Knowledge of Method Statement processes, and relevant digital platforms.
- Knowledge of Mace systems and internal Standards, and where to find them.
- Proven experience in managing small packages / areas of work
- Industry Competencies - Industry experience and/or qualifications
- Experience of managing an area/package from Start to Finish onsite.
- Able to evidence previous roles and responsibilities and successful site management.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety & Wellbeing standards.
- Professional Competencies - Personal effectiveness e. g. stakeholder management, effective communicator
- Demands high standards, no short cuts in approach to meeting Mace/Contract standards.
- Good communication skills.
- Keeps up to date with Construction Innovation and how new working practices could be introduced.
- Seeks opportunities for implementing improved working practices.
- Knows when to elevate/ask for help, whilst being able to perform under pressure.
- Understands personal strengths and weaknesses, seeks learning and support where appropriate.
