As a Senior Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the management of commercial aspects of the business area including supporting pre-contract and operations, managing commercial risk and opportunity, ensuring accuracy of forecasts and that all commercial reporting procedures are adhered to. Supporting the delivery of projects providing pre-award, procurement and post-award contract administration support, monitoring compliance with contract obligations and driving value from the supply chain. Provision of a "cradle to grave" commercial function for all work packages making up the commission. Please note: This opportunity requires you to be present in our client offices in Peterborough 2 days per week.
Responsibilities- Provide post-contract commercial management and any pre-contract activity within the project delivery team's scope of work providing specialist commercial advice, guidance, and recommendations to mitigate commercial risks.
- Provide specialist commercial advice on administration of the terms of the building contract.
- Provide cost control and reporting services during the contract.
- Prepare financial reports, manage cost reporting of all allocated projects, including cost forecasting, anticipated final cost, cost of work done.
- Identify all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities and client charges.
- Participate in the evaluation of claims for delay and additional costs made by the contractor and any nominated subcontractors/suppliers.
- Advise on the issue of certificates of practical completion and ensure that final accounts are negotiated and agreed.
- Identify and advise on all commercial risk/claim events.
- Produce appropriate commercial correspondence and contractual notices for issue in accordance with contractual conditions.
- Make sure commercial records are retained and archived properly upon close out.
- Undertake final account settlements and internal reconciliation to project close-out as per the project authority, project plan and within agreed timescales.
The project: We are currently recruiting for a talented, motivated and ambitious Commercial Manager to join our expanding utilities, water, energy and nuclear commercial consultancy team. This role is required for our Coastal Water Project Delivery team.
Qualifications- Proven experience working in the construction/utilities (Water) sector and managing projects.
- NEC form of contract experience essential.
- Knowledge of contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction.
- Sound knowledge and ability to undertake and advise on Contract Administration.
- Management disciplines including Value management and programme development and monitoring, ensuring delivery against key milestone targets.
- Acknowledgement of responsibilities and acceptance of ownership.
- Excellent interpersonal skills in creating, managing and maintaining relationships, able to converse to clients and peers to director level.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred (or other commercially related discipline).
- NEC PM Accreditation.
