Design of public health systems to concept stage meeting business, statutory legal and contractual requirements for government programs with an ensuing role of Technical Assurance Management ensuring that the design principles are maintained by the contractor through the developed design and construction. There will be requirements to assist the client in the tender process, condition surveys and handover.
A passion for building services and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving, and delivering successful, well-engineered projects. Working on a variety of government and public frameworks forming key operational and embodied carbon strategies (where necessary) and overseeing the successful delivery of the projects acting as client technical advisors.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Managing the deliverables through themselves and direct reports.
- Providing design and managing the developing design as per contract requirements.
- Collaborating with the wider design disciplines, client personnel and construction teams.
- Assisting with the production of reporting information.
- Attending/participating in client meetings and design workshops as necessary.
- Governing direct reports work outputs to ensure it is timely, in scope and of a quality expected.
- Managing direct reports training, appraisals, salary reviews and career development.
- Developing the team in areas of C2P, digital and net zero carbon in line with the company directive.
- Engaging with business improvement directives where applicable.
- Working collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
You’ll need to have:
- Good knowledge of statutory regulations and standards.
- Effective technical competence, capability, basic knowledge and application of all public health systems.
- Collaborative mindset to work closely with architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants to integrate energy-efficient design solutions.
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
- To assist in the design and delivery of building and engineering projects or groups of projects or programmes of work in order to achieve the highest quality within given timescales, budgets, and statutory requirements.
- To undertake design public health engineering elements for new build or repair and refurbishment projects and specify systems and performance specifications and criteria.
- To undertake public health design services for new build or refurbishment projects you will be able to produce Public Health designs that include Domestic Hot and Cold-Water services distribution, Above and below ground sanitary plumbing and rainwater, firefighting systems, Storm water disposal including SuDS.
- To undertake modelling and simulation options appraisals and feasibility studies and contribute whole life costing.
You’ll also have:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent).
- Chartered professional or working towards.
- Proven ability to act as Technical Advisor for clients, challenging non-compliant designs solutions.
- Experience in presenting technical information to non-technical audiences in a clear and understandable manner.
