The project: This role is required as part of a team covering three highways projects. Mace provides NEC4 project management services (including all support functions to undertake the role) to meet the responsibilities of the NEC Project Manager under the construction and technical assurance contracts including providing all assessments, reports, acceptance, notices, and certificates required in the relevant contract. Mace will undertake contract management and contract administration of all project supplier contracts (e.g. Utility providers) in relation to each scheme on behalf of the client.

Mace will lead reporting, feedback and the provision of advice on financial performance and forecasting, cost and schedule performance, cost auditing and assurance, risk management and contract compliance and performance for the client's project supplier contracts and Mace's appointment, to satisfy the Clients internal reporting, business planning requirements and supplier performance reviews. This is a hybrid role, with 2-3 days per week on site or in the client's office, and 2-3 days working Mace's office or from home. This role will require BPSS security clearance and 3 days travel per week in our London office with occasional project travel.

You will support the long-term success of planning performance for specified engines/sectors/hubs, and the overall contribution to the broader company goals. You will support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored. Creating and managing a regional integrated schedule to coordinate the demands of the region and support functions (procurement, cost intelligence, property and compensation, legal, communications etc.), suppliers and stakeholders. Creating and maintaining a client “Project Schedule” for the full life cycle of the project or programme using the HE WBS, for all projects. Ensuring that the supply chain data is reflected into the client’s “Project Schedule” on the RIP Primavera database. Supporting the Service Manager in assessing, challenging, analysing and accepting/rejecting any contract programmes, and/or any other proposed programmes/schedules from Project Suppliers. Providing resource management support to the project managers to support demand forecasting. Ensuring the client’s lean collaborative planning and visual management standards are applied consistently to support month end reporting accuracy. Supporting the Service Manager in “project review meetings” (PRM) with supply chain. Making a commercial assessment when requested by the Service Manager of a programme and schedule (6 per project or programme per year). Reporting on the impact of revisions to programmes, highlighting areas of threat to delivery and opportunity for improvement. Assessing, managing, assuring and advising on the time scope, and cost impact of project (or programme) threats and opportunities. Identifying all threats to success and opportunities for improvement. Identify and evaluate associated mitigation strategies and support the Service Manager in sharing success both regionally and nationally. Managing P6 project baseline (RIP project schedule). Assuring supply chain schedules, using the client’s schedule acceptance criteria. Reporting on the impact of revisions to programmes, highlighting areas of threat to delivery and opportunity for improvement. This includes the assessment of programmes submitted in support of compensation events. Ensuring the Project Suppliers’ “Project Schedules” include detail to demonstrate the activities required from other support functions (procurement, cost intelligence, property and compensation, legal, communications etc.), suppliers and stakeholders.

You’ll Need To Have:

  • Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful planning of projects and programmes.
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
