The Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join our growing Mobility team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimating professional who enjoys working collaboratively with project teams, clients and stakeholders to develop robust cost estimates that support informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

You will play a key role in preparing accurate and auditable estimates for projects and bids, helping shape project strategies and delivering confidence in project costs from concept through to delivery.

Responsibilities

As an Estimator, you will:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects and bids across the mobility sector.
  • Develop estimates using recognised methodologies, benchmarking data and industry best practice.
  • Work collaboratively with technical, commercial and project delivery teams to ensure estimates reflect project requirements.
  • Support cost planning, risk and opportunity assessments, and estimate validation activities.
  • Carry out benchmarking and cost analysis to improve estimate accuracy and confidence.
  • Present estimating assumptions, outputs and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and delivery teams to gather information and challenge assumptions where necessary.
  • Support quality assurance processes to ensure estimates are robust, accurate and fit for purpose.
  • Contribute to tender submissions and business development activities.
  • Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues and support the development of less experienced team members.
  • Ensure compliance with Mace governance processes and sustainability commitments.

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience as an Estimator within the major infrastructure sector.
  • A strong understanding of estimating principles, cost planning and estimating methodologies.
  • Experience using estimating software, cost management tools and advanced Excel.
  • Experience using CAD or PDF-based measurement software.
  • Knowledge of Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  • An understanding of procurement routes and project delivery models.
  • Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within a team.
  • A degree qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
